If you are reading this page, hopefully you have an active interest in writing crime fiction. We encourage you take advantage of this opportunity and sit at your computer or put pen to paper and produce something exciting and entertaining.

Send it in and as it says below, if the quality is there and it fits the style of Crime Zine, we will be happy to publish your work.

Please note at this early stage no payment is available for publication. We hope to move to that level soon. So use us to build up your portfolio. We offer you a platform, you can offer the readers some quality entertainment.

Below are the basic requirements for submitting your crime fiction to the editor. Please read and apply and hopefully we'll see you in print.

The Basics

First, read the home page on this website. It tells you very clearly what the content, mood and style of our Crime Zine is. Also, subscribe, at least to look at the first one or two issues of Crime Zine. Make sure your piece will uphold those basics.

Second, email your story in a polished format. Make sure it's easy on the eye, broken into bite sized, easy to read paragraphs, and something akin to Times Roman or Arial, 12 point.

Include your name, email, any other work of yours, the story name and what sort of story it is: flash fiction [under 500 words], short short story [500 - 2000 words], short story [2000-5000 words], substantial short story [5000+ words]. If it's the latter, let me know if you think it can be broken into more than one installment, e.g. a two-parter, or a serial. Perhaps suggest the break points.

Third, use a spell and grammar check before sending it in.

Fourth, give it a good edit. Check for the flow of the plot, the logic, the dialog and action. Check each paragraph as a stand-alone and see if it rates seven or more out of ten. Adjust as necessary.

Finally, add a brief covering email to your attachment. One paragraph will do. Often stories arrive without a word. Seems rude. You are a writer. Communicate. Be professional, intelligent and succinct.
